We’re opening up our doors and showing our home design process for building a custom home in California. As we completed this ground-up construction project in Bakersfield (similar to the hundreds of homes we’ve done over the last several years in California, Nevada, and Arizona), we’re giving our readers a glimpse into the architectural engineering services and civil engineering services that we offer to design and build a custom home with a great long-time general contractor in California, Curt Carter.
General Contractor / Client: Curt Carter
Curt Carter is a California native and a well-known general contractor and builder throughout the Kern County area who has been a loyal Pasquini Engineering, Inc. client for over 30 years. As a trusted client and partner, we’re honored to collaborate on yet another custom home design project.
For this specific project, Curt envisioned his custom home to have a mid-century modern design with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bath in the main house with an attached ADU (accessory dwelling unit) with 2 beds, 1 bath, a kitchen, and sizable living area. With a lot size of 20,000 square feet, there is ample space to accommodate the main house and ADU with a front yard and backyard. Though we have much to work with, the design needs to be within HOA requirements.
Though Curt approached this custom home design process with a floor plan idea already in mind, we will help fine-tune the design and present new ideas to accommodate his vision while complying with local building code guidelines.
Custom Home Design Ideas
As lead engineering technician and residential draftsman on this custom home project, Jimmy Daoutis created a plan that’ll suffice California building codes and other subsets of civil, structural, and architectural engineering that are required for building permit approval.
Completed Project: 16608 Millwood Way
In our commitment to excellence and innovation, we have integrated a Matterport device to create an immersive 3D map that provides unparalleled insights into our engineering solutions for this project.
